How Many Times Should You Take The ACT?

If you decide to take the ACT for more than once in hopes of improving your scores, it's probably better to take the test in your junior year to allow time for a second try.

For a few dollars, ACT allows you to select your best score to be reported to the colleges. This is a big advantage you can and should take. This allows you to take the test as many times as you need to get your highest score.

You don't want colleges to see your poor scores. You only want colleges to see your best score. We advise you do not use the three free score reports ACT will send to colleges directly after each test. While it costs a few extra dollars to get ACT to send scores to colleges later, it's well worth being able to send the colleges your best score. This way, you have the full control of your score reporting.
